Player of the Week: Denzel Valentine, Michigan State, G - 6-5 - Sr. - Lansing, Mich. - Sexton

  • Posted a near triple-double with 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the Spartans? road win at Michigan
  • Made 8-of-13 (.615) field goals, including 3-of-4 (.750) three-pointers
  • Converted or assisted on 16 of the Spartans? 32 field goals
  • Currently leads the Big Ten with 6.7 assists per game, while ranking second with 18.6 points per contest and fifth with 7.9 rebounds per outing
  • Earns his third career Player of the Week honor and third plaudit this season
  • Last Michigan State Player of the Week: Bryn Forbes (Dec. 28, 2015)

Freshman of the Week: Corey Sanders, Rutgers, G - 6-2 - Lakeland, Fla. - West Oaks Academy

  • Averaged 33.5 points, 8.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game versus Illinois and Nebraska
  • Poured in a Rutgers single-game freshman record 39 points, handed out a career-best 12 assists, pulled down eight rebounds and swiped three steals in the triple-overtime setback against the Illini
  • Scored 28 points, dished out five assists, corralled three rebounds and tallied two steals at Nebraska
  • Currently leads all Big Ten freshmen with 15.9 points and 1.7 steals per game while ranking second with 4.2 assists per contest
  • Earns his second Freshman of the Week honor
