Four Big Ten teams ranked in preseason AP Poll

The Associated Press preseason college football poll was released Sunday afternoon, and four Big Ten teams are ranked.  Ohio State and Michigan State are both ranked in the Top 10, as the Buckeyes appear at No. 5, while the Spartans are ranked No. 8. Wisconsin (No. 14) and Nebraska (No. 22) also are ranked.

I’m a die hard (not a Dienhart) Spartan fan and alum, and I am perfectly fine with a number 8 preseason ranking. Yes, the Spartans are reigning Big Ten and Rose Bowl Champions, but that was last year. I know the presumption that Ohio State is better than Michigan State stings a bit, but if the Spartans are the better team, they will prove it on the field. Ditto for the September 6 game at Oregon. It’s Michigan State football baby; play four quarters with a chip on your shoulder, to loosely quote Jeremy Langford.
