Richard Pitino didn't seem to want to any part of his chair during a timeout in Tuesday night's NIT quarterfinal game vs. Southern Miss. With his players gathered around him, the five on the floor sitting in their respective stools, the first-year Minnesota coach picked up his seat and spiked it to the Williams Arena court. It was a quick outburst, and Pitino clearly got his point across.

The top-seeded Gophers held off Southern Miss, behind Austin Hollins' career-high 32 points, to advance to the NIT semis for the second time in three seasons. In 2012, Minnesota lost to Stanford in the NIT title game.

Pitino and the Gophers will play the winner of the Florida State-Louisiana Tech quarterfinal on April 1 at Madison Square Garden.
