Ohio State moves up to No. 2 in BCS Standings

As many expected, Ohio State moved up to No. 2 in the latest BCS Standings, as well as the AP and Coaches polls, which were released Sunday. The Buckeyes moved up one spot following its narrow win at Michigan, coupled with Auburn’s exciting win over then-No. 1 Alabama, which fell to No. 4. See all three polls in this post.

Auburn should be number 1 After almost losing to an unrated team Ohio St should not have gone to number 2

matt on 12/1/2013 @ 3:26pm EDT Said:

Auburn ‘Almost lost’ (to put it mildly) to a 4 loss team and DID lose to a 3 loss team and needed a miracle play to topple Alabama. So long as OSU beats Michigan State, which is far from a sure thing, they belong at #2 in the final BCS. All the SEC honks will cry, but I’m sorry unless they can absolutely without any shadow of a doubt convince America OSU loses TWO games with Auburns schedule, then there is no legitimate argument. The talk of Auburn or Mizzou belonging in the NC game right now is all pure unfounded SEC bias. Besides.. has anyone stopped and considered how TA&M and Mizzou were middle of the pack teams in the Big12 but now have moved to the SEC and in 2 years are running with the Big boys? If the SEC is so mighty and powerful, how does this happen? The SEC may be the best conference but it isn’t as heads and tails above everyone as the media makes it seem.

ONUBuckeye on 12/1/2013 @ 3:26pm EDT Said:

In your expert opinion Cathy? Auburn lost to LSU and has had a number of miracles to win at least 3 games in the last minute, including last week against Georgia and their improbably win against Bama on the field goal return. Their SOS is predicated on being in the SEC which, given preseason rankings, is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You don’t like the BCS? Great, playoffs next season. But hey, you know what remains the same? You lose, you go HOME….just like Bama, just like Auburn this year. That is why they always say, under this system, the whole season is a playoff.

Tim Cat Meeks on 12/1/2013 @ 5:00pm EDT Said:

A win is a win. Ohio State wins was by there play, not some last second luck plays for their last two victories that Auburn had. Really they should be number one. That’s funny.

Dan Cobley on 12/1/2013 @ 5:33pm EDT Said:

Michigan State after the Big 10 Championship game will be in the mix!

Kyle Bovie on 12/1/2013 @ 5:41pm EDT Said:

Cathy, you are a true buckeye hater. It only shows that you wish your team was 24-0 and in the elite of all college football. Go hide yourself under a rock, cause that’s where you belong.

David Folk on 12/1/2013 @ 6:39pm EDT Said:

Tim Cat Meeks Ohio State beating Michigan WAS last minute luck!

JoeW on 12/1/2013 @ 8:12pm EDT Said:

Auburn AD already running his mouth…I wonder how that is playing with the Tigers. Auburn won’t be playing at home next weekend and maybe they should focus on Mizzu, just as OSU needs to focus on MSU. Vegas has Mizzu as a two point favorite so a lot of the Auburn talk is just that…bluster by those that have a commercial relationship with the SEC…ESPN. ESPN knows there is no chance of Mizzu passing OSU if the buckeyes win so they are promoting their only viable option to fulfill their economic interests.

RISINBIRD on 12/1/2013 @ 10:04pm EDT Said:

Undefeated is a BIG deal. It does not happen that often, and should be respected, at any level. Not a fan of F.S.U. or O.S.U., but running the table deserves the rank. N.I.U. deserves more respect than they are getting as well.. Assuming each of these teams remain undefeated, they deserve the praise and rankings they get. O.K. N.I.U., not in the same class, but still..how can you not applaud what they have done. It is HARD to do.

Rick Watkins on 12/1/2013 @ 10:37pm EDT Said:

I don’t understand the free ride FSU gets. Who have they played and beaten. Clemson but we kinda se who Clemson really is. I ask you is the ACC really that much different than the Big Ten? Well see where we are next week at this time. I figure FSU rolls over Duke andf OSU loses to Mich. State and we get to an Auburn FSU game which after Auburn downs Mizzou. Really too bad we can’t see an 8 team play off

squeekeron on 12/2/2013 @ 11:26am EDT Said:

Lewan was right! Ohio State isn’t a #3 team.

Steve Hamilton on 12/2/2013 @ 12:21pm EDT Said:

The Ohio State Buckeye versus The University of Michigan Game was a Game for the ages. As all suspected you have to through out each teams record when they meet in THE GAME.
congratulations to both teams for a very exciting and memorable football game. Now all the sports writers will think twice when they write about the Big Ten having weaker teams. GO BUCKEYES BEAT MICHIGAN STATE in the BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

William Call on 12/2/2013 @ 2:08pm EDT Said:

What is wrong with you guys? I’m a fan of the Big10 just like the rest of you, but I’m not blind. Ohio St doesn’t deserve to be in the National championship because they haven’t played ANYONE this year, and quite frankly, they’re just not as GOOD as the other teams. Auburn just beat ALABAMA. Who’s Ohio St beat this year? A Wisconsin team that just lost to Penn St? A previously ranked Northwestern team that lost 6 games in a row after almost beating Ohio St? The Big10 is terrible this year, as much as I wish it wasn’t true.

Besides, do you really think it will do our conference any good if they actually DO make it to the National Championship and get throttled by FSU?

Steve Hamilton on 12/2/2013 @ 3:34pm EDT Said:

For William Call,

Who are you a fan of? It sure isn’t Ohio State or The Big Ten. Move down South and root for those pansies.

Shayne on 12/2/2013 @ 6:55pm EDT Said:

Ohio State definately deserves the #2 spot. They are 24-0! What more do you have to do?

TERRY HOLT on 12/2/2013 @ 6:59pm EDT Said:

Everyone on here has some good points in their Personal view… let it play out.. Auburn has beaten miz yet osu…has not beat Michingan State.. FSU AND DUKE IT WOULD BE A MIRACLE IF DUKE WON,,

T A&M Mizzou powers in SEC Penn St. & Neb. were National powers before moving to BIG now just normal teams come play up North where real Football is played!

TERRY HOLT on 12/2/2013 @ 10:27pm EDT Said:

WELL C MYERS I DONT MAKE THE SCHEDULE OR PIC WHO THEY PLAY EACH YEAR THAT IS SET…. OR PIC WHAT CONFERNECE THEY PLAY IN…….
SO U PLAY YOUR SCHEDULE AND HOPE FOR THE BEST….

William Call on 12/3/2013 @ 1:23pm EDT Said:

Steve Hamilton, you truly impress me with your ignorance. Try backing your statements up with facts instead of insults next time. The “South” has excellent football traditions and a winning history. Even recently, You don’t bet against the SEC in their bowl games because they almost ALWAYS win. Unlike the Big10 in recent years…
