Keith Appling had 17 points as Michigan State beat Grand Valley State 101-52 in an exhibition opener Tuesday night. Appling was 6 for 9 from the field, including making 5 of 7 from 3-point range to show an improved outside stroke. Coach Tom Izzo’s other perimeter players contributed to a 14-for-24 effort beyond the arc. Gary Harris, the 2013 Big Ten freshman of the year, had 14 points.
Glenn Robinson III scored 33 points on 12-of-15 shooting and Michigan won its exhibition opener, 117-44 over Concordia on Tuesday night. The Wolverines never trailed, went on a 27-2 run midway through the first half and had a 60-19 halftime lead. Nik Stauskas added 23 points. Check out some of the game’s top highlights in this post.
