2nd quarter recap: Penn State 20, Nebraska 6

Sam Ficken drilled two field goals, and Penn State now leads 20-6. The Nittany Lions held Nebraska to 13 yards through the air during the quarter. Penn State is currently on a 13-point run. An 84-yard drive that ended when Brett Maher made a 27-yard field goal helped the Cornhuskers narrow the deficit to 7-6. Nebraska threw just one time during that march downfield. The Nittany Lions opened up the lead, 10-6, after marching down the field for a seven-play, 26-yard drive that ended when Ficken drilled a 27-yard field goal. 2nd quarter recap: Illinois 3, Minnesota 3

Minnesota’s Donnell Kirkwood ran for 73 yards in the quarter, and the two teams are tied 3-3 at the end of the second. The Golden Gophers tied things up at three when a 10-play, 75-yard drive ended after Jordan Wettstein made a 20-yard field goal. Minnesota’s drive was keyed by Kirkwood’s 48-yard run. Despite driving to Illinois’ three-yard line, the Golden Gophers had to settle for a field goal. Minnesota kept the ball on the ground during the drive, throwing only one pass. The Fighting Illini will start the second half with the ball. [ PREVIEWS | BY QUARTER | BOX

Roy Roundtree

Did You See This? Roundtree's catch, in video & photos

No matter what happens from here on out, Michigan wide receiver Roy Roundtree will be remembered for his catch in Saturday’s game vs. Northwestern. The 53-yard tip reception was jaw-dropping regardless of the game situation, but it was all the more ridiculous because it set up Michigan’s game-tying field goal with two seconds left at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines, of course, went on to win the game in overtime. Saturday was Roundtree’s day. The senior wide receiver hauled in five passes for 139 yards, none nearly as important or impressive as the season-saving one. The catch was so good, it

Snap Reactions: Michigan offense bails out defense

Every Saturday throughout the fall, BTN.com senior writer Tom Dienhart watches all the Big Ten games and offers his immediate thoughts. Get Dienhart’s Snap Reactions to Michigan and Purdue’s last-game heroics that led to exciting wins over Northwestern and Iowa, respectively, in this post. Michigan 38, Northwestern 31 (OT) 1. It wasn’t pretty, but Michigan remains in the Legends Division chase. The big takeaway for the Wolverines is the fact they showed they can deliver clutch plays in crunch time and can respond to adversity. At one point in the third quarter, Northwestern led, 24-14. But Michigan outscored Northwestern, 24-7,

Did You See This? Badgers' 7 rushing TDs

Wisconsin running backs Montee Ball and James White torched Indiana’s defense in Saturday’s 62-14 win, to the tune of  359 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Gardner, Michigan down Northwestern in overtime

Devin Gardner ran for a 1-yard touchdown in overtime and Michigan’s defense responded with a stop, giving the Wolverines a wild 38-31 win over Northwestern on Saturday. Trevor Siemian threw a 15-yard pass to Tony Jones with 3:59 left to give the Wildcats a 31-28 lead and Gardner threw an interception on the next snap. Gardner heaved a 53-yard pass to Roy Roundtree to set up Brendan Gibbons‘ 26-yard field goal with 2 seconds left to force OT. [RELATED: Roy Roundtree’s

1st quarter recap: Illinois 3, Minnesota 0

Fans were treated to more punts than points in the first quarter, and Illinois leads 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. The teams’ stale offenses boomed a total of four punts in the quarter. The Fighting Illini scored when Nick Immekus kicked a 19-yard field goal to cap a nine-play, 89-yard drive, giving Illinois the game’s first lead. The Fighting Illini used Nathan Scheelhaase’s 49-yard pass to fuel the drive. Illinois’ drive stalled at Minnesota’s one-yard line and the Fighting Illini settled for a field goal. Robert Marve threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns for the Boilermakers (4-6, 1-5 Big Ten), who won for the first time in Iowa City in 20 years.
