Wisconsin starts slow, recovers to drill UW-Oshkosh

UW-Oshkosh scored the game’s first seven points, but Wisconsin quickly recovered to cruise to a 96-44 exhibition victory Wednesday night at the Kohl Center. Jared Berggren scored 16 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, to pace a quintet of Badgers in double figures. Ryan Evans tallied a double-double, with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman point guard George Marshall chipped in 11 points and committed only one turnover.

Nebraska shuts down Midland, 68-40, in exhibition

In its final exhibition game at the Devaney Center and its first action under new coach Tim Miles, Nebraska took down Midland, 68-40, Wednesday night. Six Huskers scored at least eight points, led by Dylan Talley’s 10. Andre Almeida and David Rivers contributed nine points apiece, while Brandon Ubel and Sergej Vucetic both chipped in eight. Nebraska limited Midland to 28 percent from the field (15-of-53).

Day 1: Big Ten men's soccery tourney roundup

The 2012 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament got underway Wednesday at Lakeside Field. No. 5 Michigan State, No. 3 Michigan and No. 2 Northwestern all advanced to Friday’s semifinal action, beating No. 4 Indiana, No. 6 Wisconsin and No. 7 Ohio State, respectively.
