Robert Marve threw for a career-high 348 yards and four touchdowns in his final home game – a win that made the Boilermakers (6-6, 3-5 Big Ten) bowl eligible for the second straight year, the first time that has happened since 2006-07.

Northwestern 50, Illinois 14: Photos, videos & recaps

Venric Mark rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown as Northwestern improved its chances for a berth in a New Year’s Day bowl game, beating Illinois 50-14 on Saturday. Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter threw for a career-high three touchdowns and the Wildcats (9-3, 5-3 Big Ten) reached nine victories for the first time since 2008.

Did You See This? Ohio State honors 2002 team, Tressel

Saturday was a big day at Ohio Stadium. Not only did Ohio State beat heated rival Michigan to clinch a perfect 12-0 season, the school celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the 2002 national championship team. And yes, the festivities included Jim Tressel, the former coach responsible for the current team’s NCAA probation. That didn’t matter on this day, as the Ohio State faithful gave Tressel a rousing ovation. Watch the fans shower Tressel with love now.

Michigan State tops Oakland, 70-52

Denzel Valentine scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Adreian Payne added 15 points and nine boards as they teamed up to lead No. 19 Michigan State to a 70-52 victory  over Oakland on Friday at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing. Michigan State (4-1) shot 52 percent from the field (26-of-50).

Friday's women's basketball roundup

Lindsey Moore scored 23 points, Jordan Hooper added 19 and No. 23 Nebraska used a late run to rally for a 74-65 victory over USC on Friday afternoon. Moore made just five field goals but was 13 of 15 from the line. Emily Cady chipped in 14 points for the Cornhuskers (5-1), who trailed 63-57 with 3:49 to play.
