The University of Iowa field hockey team defeated Missouri State, 10-2, Sunday at Grant Field. The 12th-ranked Hawkeyes move to 7-1 with the victory and extend their winning streak to six games. Iowa has outscored its opponents 32-6 during its win streak. The 10 goals against Missouri State mark the most the Hawkeyes have scored in a game since defeating Saint Louis, 12-0, on Sept. 19, 2009. The fifth-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team (5-3) earned a 3-0 (29-27, 25-8, 25-13) victory against Long Island (3-8) on Friday evening. Sophomore Deja McClendon (Louisville, Ky.) led the team with nine kills on .438 hitting, while sophomore Ariel Scott (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Katie Slay (Raleigh, N.C.) had eight kills each. Freshman Aiyana Whitney (Norwood, N.J.) rounded out the top hitters with six kills on .500 hitting.
The Michigan State volleyball team (9-1) continued its home win streak with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-18) sweep over Ball State on Friday night inside Jenison Field House. The win marked MSU’s fifth straight at home, and fourth straight in 2011. Senior Becca Zlabis and sophomore Kelsey Kuipers led MSU at the net with two solo blocks each. “The team did a real nice job tonight in making adjustments,” MSU coach Cathy George said. “When we began to struggle in the first and second sets, they rallied together to take care of business, the way a veteran team should.”
Iowa’s women’s soccer team continue their winning streak defeating Northern Iowa University, 2-0, Wednesday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex. Leah DeMoss earned both scores for The Hawkeyes in the showdown.
The Penn State men’s soccer team remained unbeaten and unscored upon at home this season with a 1-0 victory over regional foe Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday evening at Jeffrey Field.

Iowa’s women’s soccer team improved to 6-0 after defeating intrastate rivals, Iowa State, Friday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes earned two points for Iowa in the race for the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk trophy. The win also marked the fourth year in a row Iowa women’s soccer has topped Iowa State.
