The fourth-ranked Penn State women’s soccer team clinched the 2012 Big Ten Championship after earning a 1-1 draw against Michigan on Sunday. The title marks Penn State’s 15th straight Big Ten crown, the most consecutive titles by a Big Ten women’s program in any sport. The win also clinched the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which will be held Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 in Bloomington, Ind.

Michigan’s Holly Hein tore her ACL in 2010, then in 2011 just as she was about to return to the soccer field, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and missed the season, but has undergone successful treatment and returned to the field this fall.
