Nebraska vs. Purdue - 2012 Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament

KK Houser scored 19 points to help No. 21 Purdue defeat No. 24 Nebraska 74-70 in two overtimes in the Big Ten tournament final on Sunday. Houser, from Lincoln, Neb., also had five steals against her hometown team. Chantel Poston had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Sam Ostarello added eight points and 10 rebounds for the fourth-seeded Boilermakers (24-8), who won the tournament for the eighth time in 17 years. Purdue’s Brittany Rayburn, who scored nine points and hit the game winner in the semifinal victory against Penn State, was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. Read the full AP recap.

Illinois releases Women’s Basketball Coach

Illinois Athletics Director Mike Thomas announced Friday that Jolette Law was released as head women’s basketball coach. Law compiled a record of 69-93 in five seasons as head coach, including 11-19 in the season completed yesterday with a 68-53 loss in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Law’s Big Ten record in her five seasons was 27-59, with a highest conference finish of eighth place in 2009. In her first season, Law guided the Illini to a 20-15 record, including an historic run in the 2008 Big Ten Tournament, winning three games and advancing to the championship game before losing to Purdue on a buzzer-beater. Dog Dives Into Northwestern Cheerleaders

We’ve all been to sporting events where entertainers show of their skills during short breaks in the action or at halftime. During the halftime break of Thursday’s Big Ten Women’s Tournament game between Nebraska and Northwestern, one entertainer’s performance veered a little off course. Watch the video here. That disc-catching dog missed one deep throw and veered off into the Wildcat cheerleaders, who were seated on the baseline of the court. But as you can see, the dog was all business and went right back out on the court to finish the show.
