(GopherSports.com) The No. 19 University of Minnesota volleyball team beat border rival Wisconsin in straight sets (25-21, 25-21, 28-26) Wednesday at the Sports Pavilion. The Golden Gophers (17-11, 10-9) swept the Badgers this season, also defeating UW on Oct. 19 in Madison, Wis. in five sets. The No. 4 Nebraska volleyball team used a balanced and gritty effort Wednesday night to overcome the No. 19 Minnesota Gophers 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-16) in front of 4,166 fans at the NU Coliseum. The University of Iowa volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to 10th-ranked Purdue Thursday night inside Halloway Gym (22-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 15-6). Iowa threatened to sweep the Boilermakers, grabbing leads of 8-5 and 14-13 in the third frame, but Purdue ran away from a 15-15 tie with 10 straight points to win set three, 25-15. The Boilermakers then built an early 10-3 advantage in the fourth set and eventually held on for another 25-15 decision to force a decisive set five.
