Minnesota, Nebraska advance to NCAA volleyball Final Four

Minnesota and three-time NCAA champion Nebraska both recorded regional final victories Saturday to advance to next week's national semifinals at Century Link Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Minnesota volleyball tops Hawaii, moves on to Final Four

Minnesota’s women’s volleyball team is headed to the Final Four! [ MORE: Nebraska advances to national semifinals ] The Gophers topped Hawaii 3-1 (25-18, 25-13, 24-26, 25-21) on Saturday night to advance to its fourth Final Four since 2003, the fifth most of any team in the nation. Minnesota improves to 30-3 on the season and will face Texas in the national semifinals Thursday night in Omaha, Nebraska. Big Ten rival Nebraska joins Minnesota in the national semis, giving the Big Ten multiple teams in the Final Four for the third time in the last four years. Read more at

There will be an unofficial home team for the 2015 NCAA women’s volleyball Final Four. The national semifinal berth is the Huskers’ first since the 2008 season, and it marks the ninth consecutive season the Big Ten has had a Final Four representative. Here’s a look at Friday night’s action in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament: Nebraska swept BYU 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-23) and Minnesota topped Illinois 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-17). Wisconsin fell to Florida, Ohio State lost to Washington, and Hawaii knocked off Penn State. On Saturday, Minnesota faces Hawaii and Nebraska faces Washington. Big Ten champ Minnesota highlights 2015 All-Big Ten Volleyball Team

The Big Ten announced its postseason volleyball awards on Tuesday, with standouts from Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin earning individual recognition following the conclusion of the 2015 regular season. Nine Big Ten teams make NCAA volleyball tournament

Nine Big Ten teams have been selected to the 2015 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, it was announced Sunday night. [ MORE: View the official interactive NCAA bracket ] Big Ten champion Minnesota enters the tournament as the No. 2 overall seed, while No. 4 Nebraska, No. 6 Wisconsin, No. 7 Penn State and No. 12 Ohio State also earned top-16 seeds. With its 3-1 win over Indiana on Saturday, the No. 4 Minnesota volleyball team earned the outright 2015 Big Ten Championship. The Golden Gophers improve to 18-2 in Big Ten play and 26-4 overall and have earned the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
