(AP) Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter testified Tuesday that he was essentially paid to play via his scholarship as the National Labor Relations Board opened a closely watched hearing on a bid to form what would be the first union for college athletes in U.S. history.
Rutgers is preparing to play in its third conference in as many years. Two years ago, Rutgers was in the Big East; last season, it moved to the AAC. The college football world is abuzz with the recent NCAA Football Rules Committee proposal to recommend a change that will allow defensive units to substitute within the first 10 seconds of the 40-second play clock, with the exception of the final two minutes of each half, starting with the 2014 season.

Wisconsin football coach Gary Andersen and Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez released statements today regarding the former recently interviewing for the now-filled Cleveland Browns head coach position.
