Penn State-Spring Game

James Franklin Q&A: 'I understand our players better and Penn State better'

The nation is abuzz over Jim Harbaugh’s arrival at Michigan. And Ohio State is coming off a national title behind Urban Meyer, while Michigan State has emerged as an elite program under Mark Dantonio. But keep an eye on Penn State and James Franklin in the uber-tough Big Ten East.

Which school is Big Ten Running Back U? Let's take a look at recent numbers

The trend in recent years has been for NFL teams to avoid drafting running backs in the first round. The first back didn’t come off the board in 2014 until the 54th pick. The Big Ten hasn’t been immune to that trend. [ MORE: View all of our NFL draft coverage ] In the last 10 drafts, since 2005, the Big Ten has had just three running backs taken in the first round: Minnesota’s Laurence Maroney (2006), Illinois’ Rashard Mendenhall (2008) and Ohio State’s Beanie Wells (2009). And five drafts have passed since Wells was the last Big Ten back

Sure, the letters need to be centered and we’re trained to do all things letter-related left to right, but it’s a little interesting that the “Iowa” was State-less for as long as it was on Iowa State’s stadium. (Just look at the timestamps of the tweet above

Tim Beckman Q&A: 'The first year was a disaster, I’ll be honest'

It has been a slow, steady build at Illinois under Tim Beckman. He has made steady progress since arriving from Toledo and taking over the Illini in 2012, going 2-10 (0-8 Big Ten), 4-8 (1-7) and 6-7 (3-5) last season.

Big Ten links: Satellite camps, Big Ten-SEC speed & much more

It seems some in the SEC and ACC are still in a bunch over Penn State having these satellite camps across the nation. My advice: Get over it. What are they afraid of? I think I know. The central issue in play is the viewpoint of the SEC and ACC that satellite camps are a “loophole” in an NCAA rule that says camps must be hosted within a 50-mile radius of the university’s campus. The rule doesn’t cover a coaching staff guest-coaching at camps hosted by other institutions. The SEC and ACC are free to hold similar camps, if they
