Illinois assistant coach Tim Salem mic’d up

Spring football practice ended about a month ago, but IlliniProductionsHD recently published a great video of Illinois running backs coach and special team coordinator Tim Salem mic’d up during the spring. Salem, who spent the past eight seasons at Central Florida, was a natural in the segment. Watch the video in this post.

Purdue highlights 2012 All-Big Ten Baseball Teams

Fresh off its first Big Ten baseball crown in more than 100 years, Purdue won three of the conference’s four individual honors and had eight players earn All-Big Ten laurels, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Catcher Kevin Plawecki (Player of the Year) and Joe Haase (Pitcher of the Year) highlight the Boiler honorees, while Purdue coach Doug Schreiber won Coach of the Year. Five ex-Big Ten stars invited to NBA Combine

Illinois’ Meyers Leonard, Michigan State’s Draymond Green, Ohio State’s William Buford and Jared Sullinger and Purdue’s Robbie Hummel have been invited to the NBA Combine on June 6-8 in Chicago (see the full list). The combine is a great way for players to make last-minute improvements to their draft stock, and that’s exactly what these five guys will try to do. The 2012 NBA Draft is June 28.

Dienhart: Q&A with Ohio State’s Ed Warinner

Urban Meyer has built an impressive staff at Ohio State. On defense, Meyer retained coordinator Luke Fickell and lured Everett Withers from North Carolina to help run the unit. On offense, Meyer tabbed Tom Herman from Iowa State to serve as coordinator. And the offense will be co-coordinated with Ed Warinner, one of the nation’s most respected—and underrated—offensive minds.

Crossroads Classic extended through 2014

The Crossroads Classic, a one-day event featuring a doubleheader between Butler, Indiana, Notre Dame and Purdue’s men’s basketball teams, isn’t going anywhere. On Tuesday, athletic directors of the four schools agreed to a two-year extension to keep one of college basketball’s premier nonconference events at Bankers Life Fieldhouse through 2014.
