Have a Big Ten football question you want answered? I’m Tom Dienhart and I want you to fire off an email to me. This is a great place for us to interact with each other, sharing our passion for all things Big Ten as the season prepares to hit the home stretch. This week, some questions focus on the chances of schools like Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan State winning a division or league title. See what other queries were posed.
The piece from which this clip was taken was very interesting to edit. In the full piece, we followed both Purdue’s JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore as they waited to hear their names called in the NBA draft. The emotion you see in this clip is the result of a dream coming true, but was only part of the story. Later that same night, Johnson found out Moore would also be drafted to the NBA … and would become a Boston Celtic. That’s just like Johnson!
Lots of interesting storylines and angles to watch in Week 11, as the divisional chases firm up—at least a little. Two games will go a long way toward determining who wins each division: Michigan State at Iowa is a big Legends clash, while Nebraska at Penn State is a major Leaders encounter. But there also are other intriguing matchups this Saturday.
Every Big Ten basketball court will have a different look for the 2011-12 season, whether it be the new B1G logo, the addition of the semi-circle under the basket or the elimination of the women’s 3-point line, but at least a handful have undergone other makeovers. The floors at Illinois’ Assembly Hall, Carver-Haweye Arena, Crisler Arena, Welsh-Ryan Arena and Mackey Arena will feature new looks when the season tips Friday. Watch a feature on Illinois’ new court now and see all the new designs in this post.
In Week 11 of the Big Ten football season we’re adding the audio from the weekly Big Ten Conference coaches teleconference with reporters as we do each and every week. And @B1Gfootball spotlights a tweet or three from each coach on the call live on Twitter. Note: Penn State’s Joe Paterno did not take part in the weekly call this week.
This week is highlighted by two huge games, one in each division. The top game is Michigan State’s visit to Iowa, which is 6-0 at home and playing well. A loss by the Spartans—the only team in the division with just one division defeat–would further scramble the Legends Division race. In the Leaders Division, all eyes will be on Nebraska’s visit to Penn State, the only team in the division that controls its destiny. Following is a sneak peek at this week’s games. Note: Indiana is off this week.
