The quarterfinal round of the 2016 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament was filled with a little bit of everything. We saw an upset win by No. 8-seeded Michigan in the opener, blowout victories by Purdue and Michigan State in Games 2 and 3, and Maryland hold on to a win in the nightcap.

Purdue drove 60 miles south to Indianapolis for the Big Ten tourney with big hopes, and the Boilermakers are off to a good start, pounding Illinois in its opener. It’s difficult to fathom that Purdue has played any better today at any other time this year. The Boilers were shooting well, which made the play of big men A.J. Hammons, Isaac Haas and Caleb Swanigan even more effective.
