NCAA tourney preview: No. 4 Purdue vs. No. 13 Vermont

Depending on whom you ask, the Boilermakers could be a Final Four team … or out of the Big Dance after the first weekend. Purdue has been unceremoniously dumped after one game from the last two NCAA tourneys, blowing late leads in losses to Cincinnati in 2015 and to Arkansas Little Rock last season.

This has been a trying season for Tom Izzo and the Spartans. Youth and injury have been major obstacles to this team being able to gain consistent traction. Still, whenever you have Izzo on your sideline, you have to like your team’s chances for success in March.

Hours after four Big Ten Conference women’s basketball programs earned a place in the NCAA Tournament, another four Big Ten schools were chosen to participate in this year’s Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), it was announced late Monday evening by the event’s organizer, Triple Crown Sports. The 64-team single-elimination event begins this week and culminates with the championship game at 3 p.m. (ET) April 1 — all WNIT home games involving Big Ten schools from the first through the semifinal rounds will be televised live on BTN2Go and the BTN2Go app, with the title game airing live on CBS Sports

Three Big Ten teams headed to 2017 NIT
