Illinois baseball sets Big Ten record with 27th consecutive win

Illinois’ 2015 season has been filled with records and historic marks. [ MORE: View our Big Ten tourney homepage ] The Fighting Illini added a new mark to the record books on Wednesday, and it was a big mark. A 3-2 victory over Nebraska in the opening round of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament gave the Illini their 27th straight win this season, which marks the longest winning streak by a Big Ten baseball team in conference history. The record was previously held by Nebraska in 1983. Of course, the Huskers played in the Big Eight conference during that time.
