After taking a week off for the Fourth of July holiday, BTN's Take Ten Podcast returned just in time for the dog days of summer.

Former Michigan State linebacker Darien Harris joined the show for Episode No. 8, and Spartan fans know him well from his decorated football career in Green and White. He is tied for the Michigan State record for games played with 54, and played on some of the biggest stages the Spartan program has ever seen.

Harris' name made the sports media rounds in July after he wrote a fantastic article in The Athletic Detroit, which detailed his ongoing journey as he attempts to break into professional football. Harris and I got into that article in-depth, discussed Michigan State football's future and much more.

Follow Harris on Twitter @DHarris_45. Listen to the entire interview with Harris in the SoundCloud player above, in the playlist player below, or on any of the online listening platforms linked below.

Reminder:

You can find all Take Ten episodes on BTN's Take Ten Podcast channel on iTunes, on Google Play in the "Podcasts" section and on the Podbean online listening platform. Please subscribe, rate and leave reviews on those platforms, because that's what will help fuel the show and allow me to keep bringing entertaining guests into the fold.

I pulled some snippets from the interview below, so if you don't have time to listen to the whole thing, skip around and check these out:

(Skip to 5:14) On the piece he recently wrote for The Athletic Detroit, which detailed his dreams of playing in the NFL and some of the struggles he has encountered in ?limbo? on the path toward reaching that goal.

(17:00) On his sports media endeavors that are running parallel to his football career, and how he is building a career in sports broadcasting. He discussed what it was like to call the 2017 Michigan State spring football game alongside legendary sportscaster George Blaha.

(28:34) On his love for Kobe Bryant, and how Kobe stacks up with other all-time NBA greats (plus a LeBron vs. Michael Jordan comparison).

(32:35) On his obsession with superheroes, his top three favorite superheroes and if the hero movie market is oversaturated.

(41:33) On the experiences that stood out most during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2016 preseason.

(44:15) On his predictions for the future of the Michigan State football program after last year?s 3-9 setback.
