Before we head out to the field Saturday, here are five nuggets about the Nittany Lions entering the 2016 season.

1. Penn State played seven teams that won at least 10 games last season.

2. Brian Gaia was the only Penn State offensive lineman to start every game in 2015, and he’s started 25 games the last two seasons.

3. Only two teams (SMU and Wake Forest) have allowed more sacks than Penn State (83, tied with Louisville) the last two seasons.

4. Penn State led the Big Ten in plays of 30-plus yards (35) last season, one more than Indiana.

5. The Nittany Lions host the 2015 Big Ten West champ (Iowa), the 2015 Big Ten East champ (Michigan State) and the 2014 national champ (Ohio State).
