Four Big Ten teams were selected for the 2016 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships, the NCAA Rowing Committee announced on Tuesday. Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin earned berths into the national event, marking the seventh time in the last eight years four conference teams have participated in the NCAA Championships.

The Buckeyes earned the conference's automatic berth into the field after winning their fourth-consecutive Big Ten Championship last weekend. Ohio State aims for its fourth straight national title after earning the conference's third NCAA Rowing Championship last year. The Buckeyes are making their 17th consecutive appearance in the event and 17th overall. Additionally, one Ohio State boat aims to repeat as national champion, as the Buckeye first varsity eight earned an individual title last year.

Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin earned at-large bids to the NCAA Championships. The Hoosiers are making their third appearance in the event, while the Wolverines appear in the regatta for the eighth consecutive season and 14th time overall. The Badgers earned their ninth-straight berth in the national championships and 13th appearance overall.

The 2016 NCAA Championships will be held May 27-29 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif. The regatta includes 22 teams and each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers.
