The Spartans held off No. 3 Maryland, 64-61, to advance to their third straight Big Ten tourney final, while the Boilermakers took down No. 8 Michigan, 76-59, in semifinal action Saturday afternoon.

Michigan State, which lost last season's tourney title game to eventual national runner-up Wisconsin, has won four Big Ten tourney titles, tied for the most with Ohio State, which had a fifth one vacated; its latest title came in 2014.

Purdue, meanwhile, is making its third tourney title game appearance and has one event championship (2009).

The two teams met just once this season, with the Boilermakers taking an overtime classic in February at Mackey Arena.
