The Big Ten is home to the reigning national champ (Ohio State). The SEC hasn't won the the national crown since 2012, this after its unbelievable run of dominance at the end of the BCS era.

The Big Ten has one team (Michigan State) in the second annual College Football Playoff. The SEC also has one (Alabama).

The Big Ten went 2-2 vs. the SEC in last season's bowl action. The SEC West, the self-proclaimed best division in college football, went 2-5 in last season's bowl action.

There's more: The Big Ten has three teams in the top 7 of the final College Football Playoff rankings and five total. The SEC has one team in the top 10.

Absorb all of that? Now, did you walk away thinking the SEC is better than the Big Ten? Probably not.

That isn't stopping FOXSports.com's Clay Travis from making claims like the one in the tweet above or this one in his latest pro- SEC column: "My point is pretty simple: the SEC is still the king of college football."
