A year ago, no one would have picked Ohio State true freshman J.T. Barrett, then a backup, to lead the Big Ten in touchdown passes.

Barrett didn't just fill in for injured star Braxton Miller, he compiled a record-setting season. It's wild to think about the numbers he could have amassed had he not suffered a season-ending injury in the season finale vs. Michigan.

Will another player come out of nowhere to pace the Big Ten in touchdown passes this season?

See the BTN.com team's predictions below.

PASSING TOUCHDOWNS
2014 leader: J.T. Barrett, Ohio State – 34
2015 returning leader: J.T. Barrett, Ohio State – 34

How did we do last year? None of us picked J.T. Barrett.

Tom Dienhart: Whoever quarterbacks Ohio State–probably Cardale Jones–will chuck a lot of TD passes. Last year, J.T. Barrett threw 34 in 12 games, before suffering a season-ending injury in the season finale. The next closest Big Ten QB was Michigan State?s Connor Cook, who had 24 in 13 games.

Sean Merriman: J.T. Barrett, Ohio State: Is this my early predication for who will be Ohio State?s starting QB this season? I guess it is! Barrett was phenomenal last season, passing for a Big Ten-best 34 touchdowns in 12 games. He completed 203 passes last season, which means that one in every six completions was a touchdown. That?s incredible!

Brent Yarina: Cardale Jones, Ohio State. I think Jones wins the Ohio State quarterback competition. I could be wrong with that prediction, but a starting Jones would throw a ton of touchdowns – even if J.T. Barrett is given some time under center. Plain and simple, no Big Ten team can match the combination of protection and playmakers Jones has at his disposal.
