Steph Curry is all the rage. Why not? He is the NBA MVP who just led Golden State to the NBA title. But not long ago, he was bottled up by Purdue and Chris Kramer. Remember? Back in Dec. 2008?

With Steve Kerr leading Golden State to the NBA title in his first season, Mike Huguenin of NFL.com got to wondering what first-year college coaches will have the most success in 2015.

Three Big Ten coaches make the list: Jim Harbaugh, Mike Riley and Paul Chryst. Who do you think will have the most success this season?

Looks like there will be no early-signing period for college football-at least for another year, as the subject has been tabled. Too bad. College basketball can have an early-signing period ? but college football can?t? Hogwash.

Look, if a kid knows where he wants to play, why shouldn?t he be able to sign a letter-of-intent in December? How is that bad? Are you telling me if USC?s coach could ?sew up? a five-star recruit in December, he wouldn?t want to sign him and get him off the market?

Here is all you need to know: The MAC commissioner was for it; the SEC commissioner was against it. The SEC commish has a list of ?concerns.? But, it comes down to the ?big boys? not wanting an early period to sign so they can poach recruits late in the process from lesser programs.

This is just another case of the ?elite? schools getting what they want. Remember: follow the money to find the answer to most any question in life.

Iowa in the Foster Farms Bowl vs. Stanford? Mike Hlas of the Cedar Rapids Gazette isn?t buying it.

Even worse, Hlas points out that Iowa going to the San Francisco Bay Area would probably mean the Hawkeyes had another 7-5 season. Given there won?t be any more than two (Wisconsin and Nebraska) teams on Iowa?s schedule that are in the preseason Top 25, that would mean the season would have been humdrum. Where the Hawkeyes are going in the postseason would probably be the least of the team?s storylines in early December.

Minnesota?s quest for an Athletic Village got a big $12-million donation.

Minnesota alumni John and Nancy Lindahl made public Thursday their donation of $12 million to the Athletics Village project, the university announced. The Lindahls gave a total of $17 million, which included $12 million to the new basketball and football facilities plan, $2 million each to the Carlson School of Management and the College of Education and Human Development and $1 million to pediatric cardiology research. Not bad. The Minnesota athletic department has some good mojo going.

Tough loss for Indiana with S Antonio Allen getting busted for selling drugs-adjacent to the stadium, no less–and dismissed from the team. He led the team in tackles last year and was being counted on to be a key cog in a Hoosier defense that looks to be on the up-tick. Now?

IndyStar.com says this is the third off-field incident involving an IU football player in the past three months. Defensive tackle Ralph Green III was arrested in April on charges of battery, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Wide receiver Isaac Griffith was arrested last month on charges of driving while intoxicated.

In the wake of news that the St. Louis Cardinals hacked the Houston Astros, the gang at InsideNU.com thinks Northwestern should hack the rest of the Big Ten.
