Virginia scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally past Maryland, 5-4, in Game 2 of NCAA Super Regional action at Davenport Field.

The Terps (42-24) finished the season with a school record 42 victories.

Robert Galligan delivered an inspiring performance on the mound, pitching 7 2/3 innings in long relief to give the Terps an opportunity to force a third game.

Maryland led 4-2 entering the ninth inning, thanks to RBIs from LaMonte Wade, Kevin Martir, Nick Cieri and Anthony Papio. However, the Cavaliers plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning to eliminate the Terrapins in the Charlottesville Regional for the second time in as many seasons.

The Terrapins lost a 3-0 lead in the eighth inning in Game 1 of the series Friday afternoon.
