No. 3 Michigan used a couple big innings, including a four-run first, to claim a 10-3 decision against No. 14 Georgia in its NCAA Super Regional opener on Friday evening in front of 2,136 fans at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.

The win gives the Wolverines a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. The teams will square off again at 6 p.m. ET Friday on ESPNU. If a third game is necessary, it will be televised on ESPN at 9 p.m.

Sophomore RHP Megan Betsa (30-4) recorded her third double-digit strikeout performance in NCAA Tournament play, fanning 10 Bulldogs while scattering three hits and a pair of walks.

The Wolverines' top of the order came through with timely hits and productive at-bats. Sophomore leftfielder Kelly Christner batted 2-for-4 with four RBI, driving in the game's first runs on a two-run blast in the first inning, while junior second baseman Sierra Romero also posted a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 with one run batted in.

With a victory Friday, Michigan would advance to its 12th Women's College World Series and first since 2013. The Wolverines won the national championship in 2005.
