Michigan State closed out its non-conference schedule Monday night, and it doesn't play again until opening Big Ten play Dec. 30 vs. surging newcomer Maryland.

So, after the final buzzer in the Spartans' easy 82-56 win over The Citadel, Tom Izzo grabbed the mic and had a few messages for the fans at the Breslin Center.

Being the nice guy he is, he extended holiday wishes, and being the football fan he is, he urged the fans to support Mark Dantonio's team in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl vs. Baylor.

And, finally, being the motivator he is, he asked the fans to give his team help when it opens conference play.

"I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year," Izzo said. "I want you all to get down to Dallas and support our football guys. And then, come back up and help us win a Big Ten championship! Thank you."

In unrelated news, Izzo also got to visit with Santa before Monday's game.
