The Big Ten office announced its latest Big Ten Men's Basketball Players of the Week, and Maryland's Melo Trimble garnered two honors.

Co-Players of the Week: Melo Trimble, Maryland, G, Fr.

  • Averaged 21.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in leading Maryland to four wins over Arizona State, #13/13 Iowa State, Monmouth and VMI
  • For the week, shot 63.6 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from three-point range and 91.7 percent from the free throw line
  • Named the CBE Hall of Fame Classic Most Valuable Player
  • Scored 31 points, including four three-pointers and a 13-of-14 effort from the free throw line, in the Terrapins? victory over Arizona State
  • Chipped in 11 points, pulled down three rebounds and swiped three steals against Iowa State
  • Scored 24 points, including a 13-of-14 effort from the free throw line, and corralled five rebounds against Monmouth
  • Scored 19 points on 6-of-6 shooting and tallied three steals against VMI
  • Earns his first career Player of the Week honor

D.J. Newbill, Penn State, G, Sr.

  • Averaged 28.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in leading the Nittany Lions to a home win over Akron, and a road victory at Bucknell
  • For the week, shot 58.6 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range
  • Against Akron, scored 29 points  on 8-of-12 shooting, handed out five assists, pulled down five rebounds and swiped one steal
  • Poured in 28 points on nine field goals, corralled six rebounds and tallied one steal versus Bucknell
  • Averaging 28.0 points per game over the past five contests
  • Currently leads the Big Ten in scoring at 25.0 points per game
  • Earns his second career Big Ten Player of the Week honor
