some bitter B1G coaches… no 1st team for the leagues top offense and the Shazier (arguably the defensive player of the year) getting second team… Urban wanted something to piss his team off for next year, and now he has it
No Kenny Bell or Ciante Evans from Nebraska! Boo1
If I played for Ohio State, I’d be a lot more pissed that my athletic director chose the Gator Bowl over a potential BCS championship.
No Jake Ryan 1st or 2nd team?
Seriously, big ten coaches didn’t name a single Ohio State player to the first team offense after they led the big ten in scoring? At least on the oline, my goodness…Mewhort Norwell or Fragel not being there is fraudulent.
Then again, this is the same conference where Kirk ferentz has won approx 24 straight coach of the year awards….always get a chuckle out of the fact that NO osu coach has won the coach of the year award since ’79, despite the fact they’ve had three undefeated regular seasons since then.
Northwestern is the most under appreciated team in the big ten. Tyler Scott is t-2nd in the big ten in sacks and he isn’t on second team? Total bias for the high profile teams.
Since it’s only Nebraska’s second year I full expected for their players to not get recognized.
they were not top offense Matt…ranked 3rd in total O…
Check the stats Matt… Nebraska had the leagues top offense.
Politics at its worst….Braxton Miller is a Heisman candidate and is 2nd team really! Unfortunately that is life you have some voters with “hidden” agendas or maybe not so hidden….it’s a shame!
How does an undefeated team only get three players named to the first team. OSU got ripped off!
Oh what nfl teams will miller(when he’s eligible) and Martinez be on……that’s right NONE
Boy, Northwestern really got screwed with this list. There is one team in conference with 12 victories. (outstanding and exceptional) Another all by itself with 10 and Northwestern all by itself with 9 victories. Nebraska was very, very lucky (and a very good football team) to escape Evanston with a 1 point win and NU did not play Ohio State. The lack of Northwestern players defies logic.
Just like Matt said, no representation from the #1 defense on first team.
Could not agree with you more Matt, great post! Or you can look at it as: a lot of League schools underachieved if they have all that talent. Great job by our coaches at The Ohio State University for going undefeated with average talent, as voted on by the league coaches.
Why is it that no michigan state defensive players made all conference first team by the media? The number 1 defense in the conference, i wonder if they even watch the games?
No ciante Evans? Nebraska entire dbacks should be considered.#1 pass def. In the country
How can Braxton Miller be considered one of the top 5 players according to the Heisman race and not be on the first team?
Why should Ohio State even be considered for any positions, they are not eligible for post season play, why post season honors…….
Where is Michael Zordich from Penn State?? He’s outstanding…. Not even an Honorable Mention!
I think Meyer, the rest of the coaching staff, & the returning players have enough to be peed off about for next season. Yes. They went 12-0, but no one outside of the GREAT STATE of OHIO gives them the credit they deserve.
Just like in any sport, on any given day, anyone can beat anyone: app st over the school up north is a great example, or Boise St over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.
Could the Buckeyes beat Notre Dame &/or Alabama? I think so. Every team has that chance. Who would’ve really picked A&M to beat ‘Bama at home? No one!
I think that will be a major motivating point for next season. This team is probably one of the best teams in all of college football, but they don’t get a real chance to prove it; beyond going undefeated. Just like ’02 team, they didn’t win every game big, & it wasn’t always pretty, but they won every game! Who else beside Notre Dame can say that this season? That’s right no one!
I almost piddy the Buckeyes opponents next season… It could get ugly real fast. OSU DYNASTY!!!
O-H
Whether Braxton plays in the NFL is irrelevant. It’s a college award not some type of predictor on The NFL. ?????
Taylor Martinez over Miller by coaches…make me laugh..u can tell the coaches are pissed that they will now be owned by Ohio State…Martinez under pressure is a joke with his throws and decision making
Nicolas…This is not a recognition for those who have the best chance in the NFL. This is all about their performance this year.
Nicholas- Who cares what or where a player will play in the NFL? How a player translates to the NFL has nothing to do with his success as a college player. Dozens of Heisman winners did not do well in the NFL.
Also, OSU had the highest scoring average per game which is what Matt meant I am sure.
Seriously?! Take a team from 6-7, add in sanctions and all kinds of injuries, and then go 12-0? Just because his name is Urban doesn’t mean “well, with all that talent they should win the Big Ten”! He should be the unanimous Coach of the Year, no question!
Enjoy the long off season OSU! Enjoy your Undefeated Season *
Cracks me up that it all has to be about OSU according to their fans!
Im a Michigan fan and i can truely understand why Ohio fans would be pissed with Miller and Shazier not being first team. But also how is Jake Ryan not 1st or second team and how is Hagerup not first team if he won the best punter award.
Huskers are stacked for next season! GO BIG RED!!
Great job Penn State!!!
First place in total first and second team selects.
The Grand Experiment continues……
Sad that some coaches vent their frustration with OSU/Meyer by snubbing kids like Miller and Shazier who are favorites to be offensive and defensive POY respectively. These kids will handle the snub with class but will make those coaches show them respect next year. Should be ripe for bulletin board.
Why wouldn’t urban Meyer who took over a 6-6 team and led them to 12-0 not when the coaches award? Oh because the other BIG coaches know no matter what they vote urban and Braxton will still run the show next year! GO BUCKS
OSU had a great year, but they gave up way too many points to be in the same category as Notre Dame or Alabama. They had probably the weakest undefeated team I have seen in quite some time, in a very weak conference. Only someone blinded by their loyalty to their team would fail to see this. Still, should have had some first team representation on offense.
Sad to see B1G coaches vent their frustration with OSU/Meyer by snubbing kids like Miller and Shazier who are consensus favorites to be offensive and defensive POY. These kids will handle this snub with class but will remember when they return for their respect next season. Perfect bulletin board material.
The coaches placed four Wisconsin offensive players on the first team, and zero from Ohio State. I figure they have to get their shots in somewhere, since OSU will be untouchable on the field for the next 5-10 years.
db are you insane? These OSU players had nothing to do with the bowl ban! These awards are for performance on the field THIS season! All these players did was win. They are one of only 2 undefeated teams left and they are the ONLY Big 10 team to win every conference game on their schedule.
Maybe you’re jealous your team couldn’t do the same without any restrictions on them!
Funny thing is McShay has Miller as his top Sophomore in the country… so saying that he won’t be on an NFL roster is silly. Not to mention it has nothing to do with a player’s collegiate performance. When he went heads up with Martinez, he embarrassed him and ran rough shot. When TTUN took away his legs, he beat them with his arm and had maybe his most efficient game of the year. The coaches definitely didn’t want to vote for OSU players and that’s ok. 12-0 and going bowling down at the local bowl alley is a lot better than going 8-4 and heading to the Outback Bowl!
Hard to believe that Braxton didn’t make 1st team. I love how the rest of the B1G hates the buckeyes! You don’t hate us when your university cashes the 20+ million dollar check every year thanks to The Ohio State keeping the B1G’s head above water while the rest of the conference keeps getting worse.
All you Ohio state lovers I love all your winey comments but listen here you don’t get to play for a big ten title game and if you did Nebraska would smoke you guys first game was a fluke see ya next year in the title game Ohio!!!!GBR!!

Nebraska did play Ohio state…it was close at half time. that’s all i’ve got to say. Nebraska this year, has been inconsistant i will admit that most years in the big 10 we wouldn’t have only 2 losses, because of how many turnovers we have. 29 i think it is. Ranked like 90 somethin in the country. when we don’t turn the ball over we’re a really really hard team to beat.

It would make sense that Martinez is over Braxton Miller, Miller is a lot like Martinez was his freshman and Sophmore year. All they do it run it with him. Last OSU game he had like 37 carries right? that’s a bit rediculous. The coaches are picking the best quarter back. And that’s Martinez.
Keep whining tOSU fans. You had an undefeated season against the 65th most difficult schedule in the country and won 6 games games by a touchdown or less.
You beat two ranked teams all season, and both of those games were at home. Your non-con schedule was an amazing 19-29, and you needed multiple miracles to beat both Cal and Purdue in the Shoe (teams who finished a combined 9-15 on the season and 5-12 in their own conference). It’s a good thing your A.D. didn’t self-impose a bowl ban last year. You would have gotten run in a rematch with Nebraska, and probably gotten your clock cleaned in a bowl game anyway.
Good luck in 2013 when you have to coach like winning or losing a game actually really matters, and your players have to play with a pit in their stomach trying to keep their conference and national title hopes alive week to week.
Come on Luckeye fans, this team would lose to tOSU 2010 by three touchdowns.
wait I left something out “B1G CHAMPS *”
Fellow buckeyes…these are not the awards we are looking for so just let the rest of the conference have their day in the sun. These are not much different than a beauty pageant as they are based on opinions vice exclusively on results. So while others are mockingly telling us to enjoy our “long”off season I say thank you, we certainly will. Here is what we get to enjoy: Buying 12-OH shirts, cheering on our top 5 hoops team, watching replays of defeating 5 of the top 6 teams in the conference, seeing Urban and staff finish off another top 5 recruiting class, and having our buckeyes likely head into next season ranked in the top 5.
how does a bruiser RB like PSU Zwinak not make 2nd team, let alone first team??????
Braxton miller is terrible!!!!!
People here are so ignorant…I get you might hate OSU. But be realistic 12-0 beat michigan nebraska and wisconsin. Braxton miller heismen candidate. Yeah OSU had their flaws but their will to win and not give up..keep in mind they have no postseason and still worked hard to keep a perfect season. Coaches just mad that OSU shitted on the whole BigTen knowing OSU will dominate the upcoming years.thats why I like the media better. OSU players dont need stupid mad bigten coaches to vote for them to know they are good athletes. BUCKS
I agree with several people about Miller, Shazier, and somehow alot of people forget Bradley Roby. OSU went UNDEFEATED, only ND was able to achieve the same goal. It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning, 12-0, all the negativity is comming from the sad state up north. Next year the Bucks are going to dominate again, and humiliate that team up north in thier ” big house” and everyone deep down knows it.
My mistake Roby for OSU is first team on both lists, I along with many others know and will agree that this red-shirt sophmore, will be an NFL star. I understand the NFL has nothing to do with this, but he is that good.
Universalmike, over all the years I somehow must have missed when, teams won a game by a small margin had some sort of note or * next to close games, silly me thought a win was a win. As well 0 losses was still 0 losses. 12-0, 12-0, 12-0, 12-0, 12-0. I bet any team in the big ten dreams of having an UNDEFEATED season.
Ohio State was snubbed, flat out! And yes OSU maybe won 6 games by a touchdown or less but, the #1 team in the country right now won 5 games by 7pts or less this year too! I guess they suck too!? Other B1G are pissed cause the two ineligible teams whooped ass all year! OSU and PSU are the #1 and #2 teams in the B1G this year and people can’t come to terms with it! All I got to say is Is it next season yet?!?!? GO BUCKS!
cuz Zwinak sucked and was behind a really good o-line/ whats bogus is that t-magic is on first team that should be braxton miller and kenny bell shpuld have definately been first team
You have to remember Ohio state played three Mac schools
How is the wisconsin TE the coaches pick with 25 catches????? MSU and Penn St should be pissed
Taylor Martinez over Matt McGloin? Come on
By having 500 less yards than the top two?
James Ferentz got screwed. B1G’s best center by far..
With a healthy Braxton Miller, in a little over 6 quarters, OSU outscored Nebraska 90-44 in the 2 games they’ve played over the last 2 seasons. That is not a fluke. The fact that Miller was named QB of the year in the conference by the same coaches that picked him as 2nd team shows you why so many coaches struggle to win games.
Ohio is weak, playing in a weak conference.
What is a buckeye? A silly nut from the state of Ohio.
Everyone can have a gripe about something with these picks, it’s just politics keeping everyone sorta happy. I would have more husker DBS on first team but I’m biased just like everyone else on here, oh and Kenny bell on first team. GBR!
Congratulations to the players that won awards, I am not taking anything away from their ability but there were a lot of great players that were over looked. I am not an Ohio State fan, but their players were clearly snubbed here. The Big Ten is turning into a “Big Joke”. This is political BS at it’s finest. 50% of the selection process for these awards should be fan based, not left to the biased, psuedo intellectual sports experts that control these things.
OOOOOOOO K ; ) good mix of all the players from all the teams. B miller got the media & TMagic got the coaches vote, even Steven right? The person whom denies TMagic is a great player is delusional, stats & wins tell a different story, the ” mechanics” & ” soft” comments are now completely D bunked. Do some of you Ohio fans really believe in a conspiracy? Get over yourself, the coaches are probably more worried about TMagic than Bmiller, just a better dual threat, fact.
Matt 1439. You may have finished undefeated, but there’s a difference.
Boise State would run the table every year for a half a decade, and only once did they finish the season undefeated.
Are you seriously trying to compare a perfect 12 game regular season with a 14-0 season with a CCG victory and a Bowl win against a top 2 ranked opponent at a neutral site?
Seriously, this was nothing more than a bastard season for the Buckeyes. Try playing a game with something on the line, and I’ll be impressed if you get to 8-0 next season.
Your coaches were going for 4th downs inside their own 40 when down 10 pts. in a game earlier this year. What coach in their right mind does that?
Oh, yeah. A coach that has nothing to lose. We’ll see if he pulls that BS next year if the opportunity ever presents itself.
Time to get excited about that next big game…in April, I guess.
The conference title is being settled on the field this week in Indianapolis (not on some crappy t-shirt Urban’s going to print up for the students to wear to class this winter saying the “Real B1G Champs”.
Give me a break.
I’m State fan and I really have no real problem with the selections. But I do believe that Braxton Miller is an easy 1st team pick all around and Martinez would be second. And that’s even after seeing Martinez scorch the Spartans. He might be hair faster than Miller at this time but Miller ia only a true sophmore and will get better and faster and as well did lead his team to an undefeated season which I think is the difference. And had Dion Sims been healthy all year he would have been first team so second team for him is about right. Hopefully Gholston comes back to redeem himself he’s a great player and there is no reason for him not to play at the level of 1st teamer. If Bell and Sims return to the Spartans they should have another crack at the B1G Championship and the Roae Bowl. With Max and a growing defense with the main pieces still there minus Johnny at CB on D and some redshirt along with great incoming freshman MSU should be back on track. Can’t wait to see what incoming freshman Terry can do as DT-QB. Not to bag on Maxwell but if Terry is that good we have to start him. It’s worked in other big college programs so why wouldn’t it work for Sparty.
On believable that Michael Carter of Minnesota doesn’t make 1st or 2nd team in either poll. All of the bloggers were talking about how great he was playing, and was POW. Complete crock to screw Northwestern as well. Somehow Iowa and Illinois have a ton of players, yet won virtually no games. Ridiculous.
You guys remember that time when Taylor Martinez and Braxton Miller went head-to-head and Miller whipped up on Martinez to the tune of 63-38, and then the Big Ten coaches voted Martinez better than Miller? If I were fans of the other 11 teams, I would be calling for a new coaching staff. It’s no wonder the rest of the country laughs at the Big Ten. Really, in what other conference would Martinez be voted better than Miller?
Bring it on Buckeye haterz….if we weren,t good we wouldn,t be getting so many haterz! Oh one more thing, EVERY school bad or great, weak or strong conference or schedule..had the same chance to do what Ohio State did….win every game, but only one other school did it! So keep hating…why we keep WINNING !!
It really surprises me when i see people saying that buckeye fans should enjoy their “meaningless” 12-0 season. i will, its alot better than losing. its not meaningless though to some of the top 50 recruits of 2013/2014 that was at the michigan game that stormed the field when the game was over. The next month the big ten bowl eligible teams will be getting ready for their game (which i hope they all win. go big ten!) while the Ohio state coaching staff sits in the living rooms of some of the top recruits and talks to them about the buckeyes “meaningless” 12-0 record. (side note: shazier not on the first team and jake ryan not on the list at all is crap)
Good Luck Wisconsin and Nebraska when playing in the ‘We Stink less than the rest of the B1G Bowl”, maybe the Big ten can get Odor Eaters to sponsor it. The two best teams won’t be there (PSU & OSU).
Gawd, I am SO sick of ohio state fans acting like they are the cat’s meow. What an arrogant, obnoxious bunch they are. I will thoroughly enjoy it if their team stumbles next year and falls back down to earth. They are worse than the Cowboys or Atlanta Braves.
Talk to any coach about game planning for Taylor or Braxton, and the word “nightmare” will surely come up. I don’t know why they picked T over B but I would guess it has something to do with the fear of Taylor’s arm over Braxton. Despite how it looks, there isn’t a throw the kid can’t make. I’m excited to see The Ohio State University become a dominant force and help improve the appearance of our league GO B1G RED!
First, I am a Michigan fan living in Ohio. I hate OSU! That being said, Miller is the best QB in the conference. To be honest, they have some other great players, but I am not sure who they are but I would say they definitely deserve better representation from the coaches. Remember though coaches coach, they rarely make good decisions outside their own coaching schemes. The media got it mostly right. And the dude that said where will they play after college, that was an extremely ignorant comment. Who cares this is a college award for the season. A player could have one extremely great year and never get drafted or play a snap in the nfl.
Go blue, we will get you next year OSU
hey charlie boy-Kirk Ferentz hasn’t won 24 coach of the year titles! When he does win them its because he deserves them. Iowa doesn’t have the recruits lining up at our door, but then again our boosters don’t pay our recruits!
And another thing on the Iowa program. We are tied with Michigan for number of players in the NFL with 25. OSU is first. Not bad for a coach with average talent at best when you consider OSU and Michigan elite programs getting the best talent year in and year out. If you are on offensive lineman or tight end and don’t consider Iowa you are crazy!
I thought it was strange that Shazier wasn’t named, and no one from OSU on offense was named to First Team on the coaches vote. I only watch the other teams in the B1G when OSU plays them, so I cannot comment that there are not any better players on the other teams. I do find it odd that a team goes undefeated with high-scoring games (for OSU anyway) and no one from OSU is on it. As to whoever commented it was a worthless season, well then you can say sports in general are worthless if you want to get deep into a philosophical discussion..
Next year Ohio State’s passing game will be so refined, Braxton Miller won’t need to put up those gawdy rushing numbers (that merit the Heisman). You saw a glimpse of his passing ability against Michigan. 14 of 18 for 189 and a TD against one of the best pass defenses in the country. He’s so good it’s scary!
I guess Martinez will get a Heisman invite instead of Braxton. What a joke!!!!
I guess Gino will get the Heisman invite instead of Braxton? What a joke!!!
I met Tino.
Just proves that big ten coaches are OSU haters. Braxton in running for Hesiman and isn’t selected first team Big Ten?!?! What a joke!
Wis has 4 first teamers on Offense, who knew? I thought they ranked 6th in the conf. Yikes Huskers do not have a chance in BIG10 Champ game, especially w/o Baker in the middle, going up against the best of the best in the Big10. I thought Bell was the best WR in conference this year. I can’t explain TMobile over Brax, but TMobile had a great year and beat alot of teams in clutch 4th qtr time and I beleive was the #1 passer in the conf. I beleive Brax and Shoes were the two best backs in conf, that could throw a good deep ball. GBR!
hey, I have an idea, let’s just put everyone who played this year on the all-B1G team and everyone–players, coaches, AD’s, fans, parents will be happy. Because isn’t that what it’s all about; making everyone happy?
Completely shocked by all this OSU hate. It really is true, everyone hates Ohio State. Sad that B1G coaches can let bias get in the way. If you think Braxton Miller shouldn’t be first team, you’re CRAZY!
No one “Hates” Ohio state. Everyone hates their fans and the media (This site) building up some kind of conspiracy theory complex against the team. If you talk to a majority of other BIG fans of different teams I can almost guarantee you that most of them would agree you guys got the raw deal on the bowl ban thing and you should be playing in Indy. I’m a Husker fan, been one my whole life and I can tell you that I wish that we were playing you guys in the BIG championship, I would love a rematch and I believe OSU and the players deserve it. But when we read all of this crap on these pages about how you guys think its all a conspiracy against you, and everyone hates you and its fuel for next year well frankly its a little sad. We understand you’re upset about the bowl ban and you went 12-0. Maybe you should consult your athletic dept for opting to play in the freakin gator bowl last year instead of possibly the NC this year. On the Miller v Martinez debate….who cares!! Its all about where your TEAM ends up anyway. I bet neither of them care about it one way or the other. GBR
What the hell is wrong with Big Ten coaches? It is obvious that there is 2 sides to the big ten, The Ohio State University and everone else. The Big Ten sucks because of all of the shitty free loaders who ride the coat tails of the elite Buckeyes. It makes me sick and I think that OSU should pack their shit up and go to the SEC.
I am a die hard OSU fan but miller and shazier got snubbed. Miller tore up the big ten . The other player who really got snubbed was jake Ryan he had a hell of a season and deserved 1st team. One thing I don’t get is how Nebraska fans can think they are better than the buckeyes when the buskers got shalacked by OSU and Miller tore up the Nebraska d and would do it again Nebraska will be Big ten champs*
It is about Ohio state, it is all about the buckeyes because we are and have been the standard bearer for this sad and getting sadder conference for the past ten years.we alone have carried the conference into three bcs championship games ,we have played in and won more bcs bowls then any other team in the conference ,and almost as many as any other team in the country. We have had heisman winners and we haven’t lost to app st. Or tcu .We just beat the next best program in our conference for the eighth time in nine years. We just went 12-0 in a year where we weren’t expected to do much and the future only looks brighter, so yeah, it’s all about OSU and it will continue to be until someone knocks us off. Get used to it!
Chicago Mike: Matt Mcgloin was the top passer in thr BIG 10.
DARQUEZE DENNARD SHOULD BE FIRST TEAM BY BOTH COACHES AND MEDIA… COACHES KNOW FOOT BALL THO
I thought the coaches poll would be make more sense than the media but it’s rediculous!!!! Watched Wis all year and offensively they are terrible…..bad kick from Utah St and they are 6-6 C’mon Man!!! Not a Mi State fan but that monster at TE is by far the best in the big ten
the effects of Sandy were even felt in the voting process. well deserved, beating one ranked team makes him an OBVIOUS pick for coach of the year. Like the players being voted 1st team that might not become NFL players, I thought this was all about performance ON the field? the B1G 10 was weak this year regardless. tOSU faithful should be happy they’re on a bowl ban. might be a little more comforting for tOSU to be in a bowl game next year rather than ruin a 12-0 season.
Jake Bucks over Huskers 63-38 on YOUR turf was not a fluke………
Can’t Understand why when they do best of the Big Ten and people who never played a down in the Big are listed. I have no problem with Nebraska and Penn. State players who played in the Big Ten. I guess The Big Ten had 2 National Championship teams in 1997, right. Just like Jo Pa being an outstanding coach in the Big Ten, Check his record in the Big Ten and you’ll see he should not be in the top 25. One of the top coaches of all time yes, in the Big Ten no. He made his record as an independent not a member of the Big Ten.
Dexter, you’re gonna claim that PSU is one of the top two teams in the conference when they were beaten by Nebraska? What sense does that make? Also, I would have loved to have seen Nebraska vs. OSU in the B1G Championship, but OSU’s AD made a poor decision last season when he allowed the team to play in their bowl game.
Anybody remember when, if the score was tied at the end of 60 minutes, the game was declared a tie? If those were the rules today, there wouldn’t be a division I team with a ‘perfect’ record. ND would be 11-0-1, OSU would be 11-0-2, Michigan would be at 7-4-1 (5-1-2) vs Northwestern’s 9-2-1 (5-2-1); still in 2nd place in the Legends division.Wisconsin’s tie with Penn State wouldn’t change the Leaders, either, but still…, wouldn’t restoring the tie make rankings and standings a bit more honest?
Ohio State has a very good football team. That team was under-represented on the ABT lists. But it’s crystal clear that OSU’s FANS are number one in arrogance, paranoia and crudeness. Dexter on 11/27/2012 @ 9:38am, Ah on 11/27/2012 @ 10:27pm and on 11/27/2012 are cases in point. Note to Mike…OSU was an embarrassment to the Conference both times it played for the BCS title. They’re 7 and 7 in the Rose Bowl. They’ve got a losing 20 and 23 all time bowl record. The Conference doesn’t need Ohio State as much as Ohio State needs the Big Ten.
Jake Ryan? His versatility and athleticism is under appreciated there is no reason he shouldn’t be first or second team. Braxton Miller is continuously shunned for the past he is better than Martinez
Thanks to all the Big 10 fans from a dedicated Husker fan. It is a priveledge to have the opportunity to play with all these storied programs. It will be great when Ohio State and Penn State will be free from sanctions. Great conferance, one and all. Every game is a challenge, from programs that represent not only great play but great character and citizenship. We in Nebraska are honored to play in the Big 10. Every comment here has validation. No doubt that B. Miller is amazing. Next year, he will be dominant. Looking forward to all future Ohio State games. Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Northwestern, Iowa, Wisconsin…. all the teams… so excited to experience the most storied conferance in the NCAA.
The Big Ten was awful this year, just awful. How can there be snubs when the whole conference is awful, I everyone who voted, just pulled names out of hats because it was that bad.
OSU fans, have your glory and to the guy who said nobody picked A&M to beat Alabama, guess again. When it comes to playing meaningful football again with pressure, we will see just how dominant you think you really are…just like USC this year.
People aren’t snubbing your players, the talk of Braxton Miller for the Heisman was laughable, he isn’t an elite player and nobody respects the B1G outside of themselves right now. When OSU is off of probation, it does make the conference more appealing, but it is all OSU’s fault that the B1G gets disrespected. You couldn’t beat Florida when Smith won the Heisman, so why would you want another Hypesman winner? When Florida beat, wait drubbed, OSU it was amazing how much the media began to talk about “athletes” “speed” and “NFL type talent” in the SEC, TV money and oversigning without penalty have allowed that conference to take over college football.
This season for OSU is nothing but hollow and the fact that Tressel is not hated speaks volumes to how ignorant the fanbase really is. The fact that Gene Smith, who sucked as AD at Iowa State, is not hated speaks volumes as well. Had Tressel sat the players for the Sugar Bowl and then told the truth after the fact, maybe and it is a pretty good bet, OSU would be playing Notre Dame for the National Championship. However, they beloved coach screwed you out of everything for what? Not a National Championship, a Sugar Bowl victory, that is a good trade off, lose your job to win the Sugar Bowl and then to have it vacated anyway. How can OSU fans not hate Tressel, I don’t get it?
There is no fanbase more cocky and arrogant than OSU, but MSU comes in second on that. Why harp on snubs when the conference was so bad? It is going to take OSU or Michigan to do anything to win a National Championship, they really are the only two programs capable of doing so, that said, it won’t be next year, maybe the following year.
Lets all agree that these are the worst All Big Ten teams ever, you have a potential top 10 draft pick in Hankins, and he doesn’t make 1st team? Also how in the world is Braxton Miller not 1st team coaches, he won Offensive POY and QB of the year, Shazier killed Teo stats wise and he also can’t make first team coaches? This is absolutely ridiculous. It’s like having a team go from 6-7 to 12-0 and not giving coach of the year to that coach (wink wink)
Who cares if they don’t play in the nfl. That doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of making an all conference team.
