Next 'Elite' episode profiles 1994 Nebraska football

In 1994, Nebraska was years away from joining the Big Ten. On Tuesday, “Big Ten Elite” celebrates the history of the Big Ten’s newest member by profiling Tom Osborne’s first national championship football team. In this look back, we see how this ended years of near misses for the Big Red.

Tommie Frazier was the spark plug that ran the Nebraska offense but an injury sidelined him during the season. Backup QB Brook Berringer filled in admirably and kept the Cornhuskers marching toward a perfect season. Riding the explosive combination of a dynamite run game and a speedy Blackshirts defense, Nebraska rolled through the regular season and faced Miami in the Orange Bowl. This was the same Miami program that denied Osborne a perfect season in 1983.

The show features interviews with Osborne, Frazier, and Zach Wiegert.

Great to see you honor the legacy of Brook Berringer, Tommy Frazierand The Great Tom Osborne. Nebraska bring five National championships to the Big 10 to go with the two that they had before Nebraska. The Big Red will brinaditional ones in the future.

I’ve been a husker fan for 40yrs and glad to see them in the big10. Nebraska has always been a power house.I can’t wait for them to play Illinois, that way we can show these weak -ss Illini what football is all about.

Will the 1994 Nebraska episode air again soon? If so can you tell me when. I missed it

Dale, it’s on BTN2Go on demand if you have that. But you can check this schedule for a two-week outlook. It doesn’t appear to reappearing any time soon, but will likely come back down the road.

Nebraska would have been the second best team in the Big Ten that year behind the far superior Penn State team with Kerry Collins, Bobby Engram, Ki-Jana Carter, Kyle Brady, and an unbelievable OL. They beat the Buckeyes by 50 that year.

When will the 1994 Penn State team be featured? Best single season team in Big Ten since Penn State joined. Or will they fall to the side like all Penn State coverage does on this network?

How can the 1994 Nebraska team qualify as a Big Ten Elite program when they weren’t even in the conference? Also, Big Ten Greatest Games should only be games from when the team is in the conference, Next year, I don’t want to see Rutgers vs. Temple from 19xy
