'Elite' spotlights 2002 Buckeyes football tonight

In only his second year, Jim Tressel took an unheralded Ohio State team from a 7-5 record the year prior and survived a number of close finishes to run the table in the Big Ten and take a perfect record into the Fiesta Bowl, where they faced the defending champion Miami Hurricanes. Tonight at 7 p.m. ET (and again at 10 p.m.), our one-hour TV show “Big Ten Elite” explores that team’s undefeated season.

Behind the heady play of quarterback Craig Krenzel, the two-way ability of Chris Gamble, and a tough, no-nonsense defense – the Buckeyes stunned Miami in overtime and captured the national championship. The show features interviews with Jim Tressel, Craig Krenzel and Chris Gamble, among others. OhioStateBuckeyes.com has a good archive from the 2002 season with game notes and stats from each game.

Awesome show, really enjoyed it. Proud to be a Buckeye.

Jim Tressel is a class man, OSU should hire him back in a couple years when Urban calls it quits.

How about some acknowledgement about 8-0 Iowa who didn’t get to play OSU and arguably played a bowl opponent that was as good or better than Miami.
