Northwestern’s drive was keyed by Mark’s 46-yard run. Pass plays were an afterthought for the Wildcats, as Northwestern threw just two passes during that march downfield.
The Wildcats made their lead 14-0 when Tyris Jones turned a handoff into a five-yard touchdown on the last play of a five-play, 53-yard drive. Northwestern’s drive was highlighted by Trevor Siemian’s 42-yard pass to Tony Jones.
South Dakota has possession on its own one-yard line to start the second quarter.
