1st Quarter Recap: Iowa 14, C. Michigan 10
The Hawkeyes took the game’s first lead after James Vandenberg and Kevonte Martin-Manley combined for a 10-yard touchdown on the last play of a five-play, 72-yard drive.
Central Michigan tied the game at seven after Zurlon Tipton pounded in an eight-yard touchdown run to end an eight-play, 75-yard drive.
The Chippewas broke the 7-7 standoff when David Harman made a 33-yard field goal to clinch a four-play, zero-yard scoring drive. A fumble recovery by Central Michigan set the Chippewas up at the Iowa 16-yard line to start the drive.
Mark Weisman’s 34-yard touchdown run gave Iowa the lead, 14-10, and was the final play of a four-play, 55-yard drive.
The Hawkeyes will start the second quarter with the ball at Central Michigan’s 44-yard line.
