Penn State dropped its second game of the Big Ten Tournament to the Nebraska Cornhuskers by a score of 12-3 on Thursday afternoon. With the loss, the Nittany Lions are eliminated from the tournament. Penn State finishes the season 29-27 overall, the program’s second-straight winning season. Senior Sean Deegan led the game off with a home run, his Big Ten leading 12th of the season. After that, it was all Cornhuskers, collecting 18 hits in the victory.
For Nebraska (35-22, 14-10 Big Ten), junior Ryan Hander threw a gem for the Huskers, as the righty gave up just two earned runs over a career-high 6.1 innings of work, while striking out a career-high seven. After getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the third, Hander retired seven straight Nittany Lions and faced just nine combined hitters in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
