Step Into My Office: Coach Hope
On last week’s Step Into My Office
, our Mike Hall sat down with Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald
and the week before that it was Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema
. And remember that if you get BTN2Go.com
, you can watch all of the episodes right here
. At 9 p.m. ET tonight on BTN, Hall takes you behind the scenes with Purdue head coach Danny Hope. Hall, who can be found on Twitter, @BTNMikeHall
, filed a couple bonus Web-only video clips from his visit to West Lafayette. He also wrote a little about what it was like to hang with Hope, whose Boilermakers host Illinois at noon ET Saturday on ESPN2. Watch a bonus clip now and see more at the bottom of this post, plus read Hall’s comments.
“Danny Hope may be the interview I am most proud of. It was actually the first one of these we shot back in late April. The reason I am so delighted by this is that it shows a side of Danny that just about nobody knew was inside him. It’s a great chance to see what he’s like away from the field. And I don’t know how many fans have had the chance to see that side of this normally stoic coach.
The story of the manmade brick Staircase to Heaven may very well be the best single nugget we got from any of the shows! I was also personally very excited to ask him about his mustache. A couple of friends of mine are Purdue grads, and they can’t help but rave about his ‘stache. To find out he did it to be like Larry Csonka, is certainly something I quickly relayed to them.”
What goes through Hope’s mind the night before a game?
