Kyle Flood announced Wednesday that senior Gary Nova has been named the team?s starting quarterback. Nova, who has appeared in 33 career games with 28 starts, will start his third straight season opener.

Nova enters 2014 ranked fifth in school history in career completions (502) and career passing yards (6,407) and is third in RU history with 51 career touchdown passes. He needs just nine touchdown passes in 2014 to pass Mike Teel (59) as the program's all-time leader.

Last season, Nova started 10 games and threw for 2,159 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Nova and the Scarlet Knights open the season Thursday, August 28 at Washington State. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET with live television coverage on Fox Sports One.
