Kevin Foster scored 34 points to lift Santa Clara to an 86-83 win over Purdue on Monday at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette in the College Basketball Invitational.
Santa Clara (23-11) shot 49 percent from the field (29-of-59). The Broncos were on fire from beyond the arc during the game, shooting 41 percent (9-of-22). Santa Clara went 19-of-28 from the charity stripe as a team (68 percent). Raymond Cowels III shot 5-of-9 from the field and scored 13 points for the Broncos. More Santa Clara scoring came from Marc Trasolini (10 points).
Ronnie Johnson had 27 points and made 11-of-21 shots from the floor for Purdue (16-18) in the loss. Sandi Marcius was 4-of-5 from the floor and chipped in nine points for the Boilermakers.
Purdue also got a double-digit contribution from Terone Johnson (22 points).
