Next 'Elite' episode profiles 1994 Nebraska football

In 1994, Nebraska was years away from joining the Big Ten. On Tuesday, “Big Ten Elite” celebrates the history of the Big Ten’s newest member by profiling Tom Osborne’s first national championship football team. In this look back, we see how this ended years of near misses for the Big Red.

Tommie Frazier was the spark plug that ran the Nebraska offense but an injury sidelined him during the season. Backup QB Brook Berringer filled in admirably and kept the Cornhuskers marching toward a perfect season. Riding the explosive combination of a dynamite run game and a speedy Blackshirts defense, Nebraska rolled through the regular season and faced Miami in the Orange Bowl. This was the same Miami program that denied Osborne a perfect season in 1983.

The show features interviews with Osborne, Frazier, and Zach Wiegert.
