Jim Tressel is back in football. The Indianapolis Colts hired the former Ohio State head football coach as a gameday consultant, Colts coach Jim Caldwell announced during a conference call Friday. Tressel's main role will consist of helping the team determine when it should challenge plays. Read more about the hire here.

Tressel resigned at Ohio State on May 30 following an investigation that turned up evidence his players had received improper benefits. Tressel also allegedly failed to notify the school's compliance department.

In his legendary career at Ohio State, Tressel went 94-21, won one national title and six Big Ten crowns, and went 8-1 against heated rival Michigan. All those numbers do not include 2010 results, which have been vacated.
