A special guest visited BTN during our telecast of the Purdue-Southeast Missouri State game on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium. It was Purdue basketball standout Robbie Hummel. Hummel, who is recovering from his second season-ending knee injury, stopped by to chat with BTN sideline reporter Lisa Byington. So, how’s the knee? “It’s been positive, I haven’t had any setbacks,” Hummel said. Saturday’s game had to make Hummel feel pretty good, too, as the Boilermakers thumped SEMO, 59-0.

Penn State Volleyball Interview

The fifth-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team (5-3) earned a 3-0 (29-27, 25-8, 25-13) victory against Long Island (3-8) on Friday evening. Sophomore Deja McClendon (Louisville, Ky.) led the team with nine kills on .438 hitting, while sophomore Ariel Scott (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Katie Slay (Raleigh, N.C.) had eight kills each. Freshman Aiyana Whitney (Norwood, N.J.) rounded out the top hitters with six kills on .500 hitting.

Ball State at Michigan State - Volleyball Wrap-Up

The Michigan State volleyball team (9-1) continued its home win streak with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-18) sweep over Ball State on Friday night inside Jenison Field House. The win marked MSU’s fifth straight at home, and fourth straight in 2011. Senior Becca Zlabis and sophomore Kelsey Kuipers led MSU at the net with two solo blocks each. “The team did a real nice job tonight in making adjustments,” MSU coach Cathy George said. “When we began to struggle in the first and second sets, they rallied together to take care of business, the way a veteran team should.”
