Devin Gardner accounted for six touchdowns to help No. 23 Michigan rout Iowa 42-17 Saturday. The Wolverines (8-3, 6-1 Big Ten) weren’t stopped on offense by the hapless Hawkeyes (4-7, 2-5) until Gardner threw an interception early in the fourth quarter.
No. 14 Nebraska’s aerial assault is on point, as the Cornhuskers lead 10-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to 98 passing yards in the quarter. Nebraska’s Kenny Bell caught three passes for 50 yards and one touchdown in the quarter.
Braxton Miller led No. 6 Ohio State in the quarter. He threw for 38 yards and ran for 31 yards, and the Buckeyes lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Ohio State made the score 7-0 when Corey Brown returned a punt for a touchdown.
Jeff Budzien kicked a 27-yard field goal with 7:30 remaining, and Northwestern was able to hold on to this fourth-quarter lead, beating Michigan State 23-20 on Saturday. Trevor Siemian threw for 165 yards, including a 41-yard pass to Dan Vitale that helped set up the winning kick.
