Joe Paterno on the Late Al Davis

The football world lost a legend Saturday with the passing of Oakland Raiders’ owner Al Davis. Davis, 82, was a central figure in the merger of the upstart American Football League with the established NFL and helped pave the way for the extravaganza that is the Super Bowl. Penn State coach Joe Paterno knew Davis well and the latter even tried to lure Paterno, then a Penn State assistant, to the Raiders as an offensive coordinator. Watch now as Paterno reflects on Davis and answers why he never took the Raiders job.

Weekend Olympic Sports Roundup

The weekend saw several of the conference’s soccer and field hockey teams in action. Iowa battled Ohio State to a 3-0 win in field hockey on Saturday afternoon. Watch the highlights now, along with an interview with Iowa coach Tracey Griesbaum. Moving to soccer, the Illinois and Michigan State women’s teams settled the score in double overtime, with the Illini getting the 1-0 win. Tonight on BTN: Ohio State at Nebraska

The votes are in, and Big Ten fans selected Nebraska’s comeback win over Ohio State as the Week 6 “Big Ten Game of the Week.” Catch the game again at 8 p.m. ET Sunday on BTN. The Huskers, playing their first Big Ten home game, rallied from a 21-point halftime deficit to card the biggest comeback in program history. Trailing 27-6 minutes into the third quarter, things were not looking good at all. But Taylor Martinez soon caught fire and accounted for three touchdowns, including a pair of touchdown passes, in the next 14-plus minutes, setting up Rex Burkhead’s game-winning scoring scamper with 5:10 left.

Final: Nebraska 34, Ohio State 27

One of the best running backs in the Big Ten, No. 15 Nebraska’s Rex Burkhead ran all over Ohio State, carrying Nebraska (5-1) to a 34-27 victory on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Burkhead, who came in ranked No. 2 in the conference in rushing yards at 516 per game, rushed 26 times for 119 yards and one touchdown. Things looked grim for the Cornhuskers, but Nebraska stormed back to clinch the victory in Nebraska’s biggest comeback in school history. The Cornhuskers climbed back from a 21-point deficit to pull off the comeback.
