With just over a month to play, the bowl picture is starting to come into focus. You can’t talk bowls without talking bowl payouts. And, in 2012, the Big Ten’s postseason bottom line may take a hit.
You have questions, and I have answers in this week’s mailbag. A good variety of queries populated my in-box this week, with fans wondering about Wisconsin quarterback Danny O’Brien and the stagnant Michigan offense, among other topics. Let’s get started!
It’s Oct. 31 and Big Ten fans are celebrating Halloween all over. As you can tell from the video in this post, we think we know what costumer Tom Izzo will be wearing. So we’ve taken to Twitter to collect some great Halloween-themed shots posted by the fans. See a few in this post and check out all of the photos at BTN.com/connect.
The next episode of “The Journey 2012” presented by Best Buy airs Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET and our crew spends time with Nebraska wide receiver Kenny Bell (see the bonus video clip in this post). Of course, you already know that if you’re on social media and follow the Instagram account BTNJourney, which is where our TV show crew shares lots of really great photos as they travel around the Big Ten. See some really good ones in this post.
Our “Tailgate 48” team was in Madison this past week, and it got a first-hand look at how rabid Wisconsin fans prepare for a big game on campus. We even attended Freakfest, Madison’s Halloween tradition. Don’t forget each week that the TV show spotlights a few great Big Ten fan tailgating photos (see the latest on BTN.com/connect now). Get your photo considered by tweeting it to @BigTenNetwork and use the hashtag #tailgate48.
When it comes to biggest surprises of the 2012 season, the emergence of Philip Nelson as quarterback at Minnesota ranks right up there. Only one quarterback in the history of Golden Gopher football that has won the job as a true freshman and kept it for four seasons. That was Rickey Foggie. See what Foggie has to say about Nelson and check out other Big Ten news in my daily links.
