The hoop season continues to gain speed and momentum, as a bit more clarity is apparent with each passing week. Still, there are many unknowns. And that will remain so, as this is a slow week of action with many schools in finals week. Here’s a look at the week ahead, with the best games coming on Saturday.

No Big Ten football, no problem. Big Ten basketball is in full swing, and as a result there was no shortage of video highlights from a jam-packed week on the hardwood.
Wisconsin held off No. 9 Nebraska, 19-17, to improve to a surprising 2-0 in Big Ten play Sunday afternoon at NU Coliseum. Meanwhile, the Huskers fell to 0-2 in conference action with the loss. Up until Saturday night, Illinois’ season has been described in strange terms. At that point, it was “surprising” that Illinois was undefeated. The Illini won the Maui Invitational, which was a very “prestigious” early-season tournament. This isn’t normally how one talks about an undefeated team that’s ranked in the top-15.
There were a total of seven Big Ten women’s basketball teams in action Sunday, including ranked Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue. No. 10 Penn State, the Big Ten’s highest-ranked team, blasted Georgetown, 97-74, behind Maggie Lucas’ career-high 39 points. Catch up on all the action in this post.
On the first Saturday sans Big Ten football, BTN aired five consecutive men’s basketball games. It all started at noon ET and came to an end just before 10:30 p.m. There were too many highlights to count during the 10-plus hours of action, but it’s safe to say none were bigger than Victor Oladipo and Sam Thompson’s ridiculous dunks.
