Michigan State claimed the Legends Division with its decisive victory over Indiana on senior day, and now it must wait to see who it will play in Indianapolis. In other Week 12 action, Penn State beat Ohio State, Michigan knocked off Nebraska, Wisconsin rallied past Illinois, Iowa topped Purdue and Northwestern dropped Minnesota. Paterno has lung cancer, son says

Big Ten Blast: Nov. 18th Afternoon Update

The Associated Press reports that former Penn State coach Joe Paterno has a treatable form of lung cancer, according to his son. Scott Paterno said in a statement provided to The Associated Press by a family representative on Friday that the 84-year-old Joe Paterno is undergoing treatment and that “his doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery.” Read the full story here.

Big Ten Blast: Nov. 18th Afternoon Update

Penn State has learned via letter from NCAA President Mark Emmert that the governing body of collegiate sports will launch an investigation of the university’s athletic programs in the wake of allegations of sexual abuse by a former assistant coach and charges of perjury against to two senior school officials, according to a release posted at Penn State Live website (http://live.psu.edu).
