The Big Ten Conference and the Pac-12 Conference have made a unique scheduling agreement that will have the football teams from each conference playing one inter-league football game, the two conferences announced on Wednesday. The conferences’ scheduling agreement will also span across all sports. (AP) Brandon Paul scored a breakaway dunk that put Illinois ahead in double overtime Tuesday night and Meyers Leonard hit the layup that sealed the 81-72 victory over Minnesota. Paul swiped the ball from Ralph Sampson III for the dunk that gave the Illini (12-2, 1-0 Big Ten) a three-point cushion at 73-70. Leonard’s layup with 1:11 left made it 78-72 and finished the Golden Gophers (12-2, 0-1). Paul finished with 21 points. (AP) Ryan Evans scored a career-high 22 points and No. 11 Wisconsin defeated injury-plagued Nebraska 64-40 in the Cornhuskers’ inaugural Big Ten game Tuesday night. The Huskers closed within five points early in the second half, but the Badgers went on a 27-5 run to put the game out of reach. Jordan Taylor added 15 points as the Badgers (12-2, 1-0) won their ninth consecutive Big Ten opener. Toney McCray led the Huskers (8-4, 0-1) with 16 points and nine rebounds. (AP) Purdue recovered two onside kicks and Raheem Mostert returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown before halftime to give Purdue a big lead, and the Boilermakers held on to beat Western Michigan 37-32 Tuesday night in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. The Broncos had the ball with a chance to go ahead, but their comeback hopes ended when quarterback Alex Carder fumbled for his fifth turnover with just under 2 minutes left.
