Suffice it to say, 2012 wasn’t a banner year for Iowa. The 4-8 Hawkeyes are coming off the program’s worst season since 2000 and are riding a six-game losing skein. After four seasons, Purdue has seen enough of Danny Hope. He officially was fired Sunday. The school also announced wide receivers coach Patrick Higgins will serve as the interim coach for the team’s bowl game.

This is the final edition of the 2012 Big Ten power rankings. And it’s pretty clear who the two best teams in the Big Ten are: Ohio State and Nebraska. Alas, they can’t meet in the conference title game, as the Buckeyes are on probation. But Ohio State finished 12-0, including a 63-38 win over the Cornhuskers in Columbus earlier this season. So, the Buckeyes must be best, right?
Tyler Griffey buried a long 3-pointer with four seconds left and Illinois survived a scare Sunday by beating Gardner-Webb 63-62. After winning the Maui Invitational, the Illini (7-0) came home and needed to rally against Gardner-Webb.
